Trigger/Deposit-based Funding Schedules and Buckets
Anthony
Trigger funding based on deposit criteria. Deposit > $X,XXX.XX
---
Only supports % and static amounts for buckets. Loses information on $X.XX/Schedule because no date is provided.
Can't do date-based because plaid/MX doesn't always send txs on the same date.
---
implementation note: Deposit-based executes before date-based schedules as it's specific to a transaction, and not Free-to-Spend
Funding Schedule Summary line:
Money in -> XX%, $XXX

i deal with this almost every month because sometimes my deposits show up a few days late or a few days early and then i have to do a lot of manual work to get back on track.

Adding another use case where this is important: a lot of banks will now make funds from direct-deposit paychecks available when the batch is posted from the employer (typically Wed-Thurs for a biweekly Friday payday), rather than waiting for them to clear on their "pay" date. This introduces factors outside the control of DAS, the user, and the bank which impact when a paycheck appears as a transaction, which makes a goal of "FTS is what is left after funding, so it's available liquid funds" hard to achieve: the only thing that can be guaranteed in the above scenario is that the funds will be available on Friday morning, so that's when a funding schedule would have to be triggered, but if the transaction appears at 1300 on Wednesday, from that time until the funding schedule executes, FTS has more money in it than is actually available to spend.
An "on-deposit" trigger with a percentage (rather than fixed) amount setting, coupled with funding from a bucket, would allow paychecks to be moved into a Goal as soon as they're ingested (so FTS is not impacted), so that a separate funding schedule can be run to actually fund Expenses/Goals from THAT bucket.
(Note: This would then feed into a request to allow either a percentage-based amount or a "down-to" amount in a standard timed funding schedule, so that the interim account could be cleaned out either by some percentage or by any amount over a set figure, so that overages go into FTS instead of requiring manual intervention)

Also super important for folks who get paid commissions or lump sums that have no consistent date. My budgeting work is usually to sit down the day a big check comes in and pre fill months of buckets, but it would be great to have that automated.

Hi, I'm new to DAS Budget and was wondering if trigger/deposit based funding schedules was no longer being looked it. This feature would be great for people such as myself who are not paid on consistent dates. For instance, I'm paid on the 15th and last business day of the month which will change every month depending on if the 15th/last BD fall on a weekday or weekend. Also, my current bank has "early payday" which means I get paid 2 days early which will also throw off the 15th/last BD funding schedule. Having a funding schedule that is triggered every time my direct deposit hits would make things alot easier. I understand that a trigger/deposit based funding schedule only works with static amounts, which is fine with me, as long as I know that money is being set aside for my upcoming bills.

Great idea. Very useful for freelancers and self-employed ppl who are not on regular paychecks.
I would also use this for budgeting for my side-gig, where people pay me sporadically in lump-sums.
